The physicians of GFH Surgical Associates participate in many exciting clinical research trials on investigational and FDA approved medications. Over the past eight years the group has played a very important role as sub-investigators on three complicated skin infection trials, two diabetic foot infection studies, and six multi-center complicated intra-abdominal infection trials. One of the diabetic infection trials was the largest scale trial ever conducted on diabetic infections worldwide.
The group's participation has helped two widely used antibiotics come to market in the past four years alone. Their participation in research trials allows them to become familiar with these agents before they come to market and also allows for their patients to have access to the some of the most advanced medications in the US.
In addition to their roles as sub-investigators, the physicians have also been the principal investigator working directly with the pharmaceutical company on at least three thrombolytic drug trials. Thrombolytic agents help to break down clots or prevent them from forming altogether. Clinical trials such as these are necessary to provide data to the FDA and pharmaceutical companies about the effectiveness and safety of newly developed drugs.
Clinical research is just one more way that the practice of GFH Surgical Associates
strives to bring the most advanced medical care to each of their patients.
