General Surgery

General Surgery is the largest of all the surgical fields. This area of expertise includes abdominal organs, the breast, thyroid, parathyroid, pancreas, digestive tract, blood vessels and injury management.

GFMH Surgeons have an expertise and extensive experience in a wide range of General Surgery procedures – including:

Angiography of the extremities: Take pictures of the aorta and blood vessels that run down to your feet and the blood vessels that run down your arms

Biopsies: A portion of abnormal tissue is surgically removed

Cholecystectomy: Removal of the gallbladder

Colectomy, full and partial: Removal of the large bowel

Endovascular repair of abdominal aneurysm: An abnormally enlarged aortic vessel is repaired by replacing a section with a synthetic graft

Endocrine Surgery: Removal of thyroid and parathyroid

Hemorrhoidectomy: Removal of hemorrhoids

Hernia Repair: Inguinal (groin), Umbilical (belly button), Incisional, Epigastric

Lesion excisions, benign and malignant: Removal of moles, lumps, cysts

Mastectomy: Removal of the breast utilizing breast conservation procedures

Small Bowel Resection: Removal of the small bowel

Thromboendarterectomy, Carotid: Removal of plaque blocking artery for stroke prevention

Varicose Vein Surgery: Removal of varicose veins

Vascular Bypass-Extremities: A vein, a synthetic graft or cadaveric processed vein is placed in a tunnel created in the extremity. Each end of the graft or vein is sewn to the appropriate blood vessels

Venography: Take pictures of the veins in your arms, legs or central veins
